Anna Ochmann, president of the ARTeria Foundation, participated in the international conference ‘Beyond the Obvious 2024: United by Future Places’ and the meeting of members of the Culture Action Euope network (of which ARTeria has been a member since 2010), which was organised in Malmö, Sweden from 29 May to 1 June 2024.
It is a meeting of practitioners, organisations and institutions, policy makers, thinkers, researchers, activists and arts activists from the cultural and social sectors working on topics related to cultural citizenship, democratic spaces and sustainability from across the European Union. The theme of this year’s edition was to find answers to the questions: how to rethink the future of cities as places to live together with culture as a guiding principle, how can the European cultural sector propose new narratives for building a sustainable future?
The conference aimed to create a space to discuss how the European cultural sector can propose new narratives and visions for a sustainable future, anchored in the principles of public and democratic space, social and climate justice and cultural citizenship.
Next year’s conference and network meeting have been scheduled for June in Turin.
